AMC3 Competition Kicks Off

Yesterday afternoon in Legislative Plaza 12, an AMC3 hearing was in process with Justice Alex Griffith presiding over the challenge and Clerk Laquisha Jonson-Bridges welcoming the court. The petitioners (Team 176) acted as a defense for George Janis, who was accused the police of violating his constitutional rights by not reading his him his Miranda rights before seizing items from him.

Team 198, the respondents, claimed that the officer did not violate Janis’ rights based on the fact that it seemed George Janis could not properly say whom the phone belonged to. During a rebuttal, one petitioner argued the fact that the police violated George Janis’ rights by taking his property, which is against the law.
